Demi Moore gives a raw, career-defining performance as Elisabeth Sparkle, a fading aerobics star fired on her 50th birthday, and Margaret Qualley shines as Sue, her younger, hyper-marketed alter ego. Our Thursday Double Feature will be hosted by Count Drahoon and the Kings of Horror

Count Drahoon is a horror-comedy persona best known for hosting the retro-style series and podcast Count Drahoon's Feature of Fright. Blending classic monster-host tropes with comedy, the project features vintage radio-play style audio productions, guest interviews, and live performances. Launched around 2015, the show delivers horror-comedy content twice a month, adapting classic thrillers (like House on Haunted Hill) into serialized radio theatre. Count Drahoon conducts filmmaker and creator interviews—talking with figures like director David Hinds and industry icon Chris Gore—and streams content across platforms including Troma Entertainment and Feature of Fright and The Count frequently collaborates with groups like the Robertson County Players to bring live radio theater to the stage.

Creepshow (1982) is a fun, gory, and stylish horror-comedy anthology made by two legends of the genre. : George A. Romero and Stephen King bring 1950s horror comics like Tales from the Crypt to life with bright neon lighting, comic book panels, and animated transitions in a movie featuring star-studded performances from Leslie Nielsen, Ted Danson, Hal Holbrook, Ed Harris, and even Stephen King, himself, in a memorable segment. Top all that off with special effects expert Tom Savini crafting creepy monsters, zombies, and practical gore that holds up brilliantly, more than 40 years later.

5:00 PM // Midsommar (2019)  turns traditional scary movie tropes upside down by setting its terrifying events in broad, sunlit daylight rather than the dark. Director Ari Aster crafts visually striking frames that look like a vibrant fairy tale, making the disturbing moments even more unforgettable. Instead of shadows and night, the movie uses these bright primary colors, lush green fields, and endless Scandinavian sunlight, to create an eerie contrast with the dark plot where lead actress Florence Pugh gives an incredible performance as a young woman named Dani dealing with an unimaginable family tragedy while stuck in a failing relationship.

8:00 PM // I Saw the TV Glow (2024) is a haunting, visually striking psychological drama that explores identity, repression, and existential dread through a unique 1990s nostalgic lens. Directed by Jane Schoenbrun, the film is drenched in neon glow, pastel shadows, and a hypnotic, fever-dream-like mood reminiscent of David Lynch or 90s cult television. Justice Smith delivers a devastatingly quiet, emotional lead performance as Owen, supported by Brigette Lundy-Paine as Maddy. The film contains deeply relatable existential themes, while functioning as a profound trans and queer allegory about realizing you are living a false life. Ultimately, the movie resonates universally with anyone who has ever felt trapped, disconnected, or stuck searching for themselves in the static of youth.

10:00 PM // Hereditary (2018) is a modern horror masterpiece that brilliantly blends crushing family grief with inescapable supernatural terror. Toni Collette plays the mother with raw and terrifying emotion that makes the family's tragic collapse feel completely real; Milly Shapiro’s deeply unsettling presence and quiet oddities set the tone for the entire nightmare; and Alex Wolff captures the agonizing guilt and panic of a teenager trapped in a spiraling tragedy. Grief and Trauma act as the core monsters of the story, showing how real emotional pain can tear a household apart just as much as an ancient curse and the occult twist slowly reveals a terrifying plot by a hidden cult, turning a sad family drama into a pitch-black nightmare.

7:00 PM // The Wind (2018) is a rare, atmospheric blend of a traditional Western and chilling psychological folk horror told from a striking female perspective. Caitlin Gerard delivers an intense, commanding lead performance as Lizzy, a resourceful pioneer woman fighting isolation on the harsh 19th-century American frontier. Director Emma Tammi and writer Teresa Sutherland flip the usually male-dominated Western tropes to explore themes of prairie madness, postpartum depression, and isolation. There is an unsettling ambiguity as the movie smartly blurs the line between supernatural demonic possession and the psychological toll of crushing loneliness; keeping you guessing whether the horrors are real or imagined and Lyn Moncrief’s stunning cinematography offers sweeping, desolate landscape shots that capture both the stark beauty and suffocating dread of the open plains.

9:00 PM // Enys Men (2022) is a hypnotic, experimental art-house folk horror experience that prioritizes raw atmosphere and tactile 16mm aesthetics over a traditional plot.: Director Mark Jenkin shot the film silently on vintage 16mm film stock and layered every sound effect in post-production, giving it the authentic feel of a forgotten 1970s relic. Rather than relying on jump scares, the movie builds a slow, uncanny dread through the hypnotic, repetitive daily routines of its main character.The film just resonates unease and begs for multiple viewings to unpack all the layers as it functions as a poetic, abstract meditation on isolation, grief, and the relationship between human memory and the landscape.
