One of the most critically acclaimed German films in recent memory, The Sound of Falling, weaves a haunting portrait of four generations of women growing up on the same Altmark farmhouse, exploring how grief, trauma, and the quest for identity echo across time. A Jury Prize winner at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, The Sound of Falling was selected as the German entry for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards and swept the 76th German Film Awards, winning every one of the 10 categories it was nominated for, including Best Film, Director, and Screenplay.

BOXCAR is collaborating with the Alabama Germany Partnership to bring you our first “German Language FIlm Series”, spotlighting four films to showcase German art, language, and cinema on the second Tuesday from August until November.

Arrive early for a meet and greet starting at 6:00pm to connect with German speakers, cinephiles, and locals. Screenings will begin at 7:00pm!
